Use a Portable Washing Machine When You Do Not Have Room for Conventional Units

A portable washing machine is designed to be used in places where traditional washer hook-ups are not available. The all in one combo can be converted to work with a kitchen faucet, instead of a standard washer hook-up (hot and cold water, and a drain). This portable kit includes all hoses, adapters and wheels and we convert the machine for you. The all-in-one unit, where the unit not only washes your clothes, but also dries the clothes, using ventless dryer technology. There is no dryer vent required, because the unit uses a condenser and cold water as part of the drying cycle. The portable unit can be rolled away from sink, when not being used and will fit into a closet, utility room or other small area.

In situations where you have a limited amount of space in your laundry room, there are other options, besides trying to fit in a full size washer and dryer. One popular alternative is to use a LG washer dryer combo. This combined unit is a single appliance designed to wash and dry your clothes, all within the same unit. This eliminates the need for two separate appliances within the same space. Because you only require a single unit, they fit easier into small areas, such as closets or the under counter – like a dishwasher. The only connections required are for your hot and cold water lines, a discharge drain line and 110 volt /15 amps for electrical. Unlike conventional dryers, there is no dryer vent needed with this combination unit. 

A Washer Dryer Combo Is Environmentally Friendly and Energy Efficient 

The features found in a LG washer dryer combo are much more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. First, the washer uses less water than a traditional washing machine. Because of the technology used in the combination washer, normal loads typically only discharge around 5 gallons of water per minute and use about 12-15 gallons of water per load. Conventional washers, on the other hand, discharge around 16 gallons of water per minute and require around 40 gallons of water per load. Further, since you are using less water per load of laundry, your hot water heater also benefits, since it does not need to use as much energy to keep water hot. The built-in dryer has its own energy-saving features, as well. The dryer only requires about 1.4 kilowatts of electricity per hour, compared to 5 or 6 kilowatts of electricity per hour, using a conventional dryer during the drying cycle.

One amenity people frequently look for, whenever they are looking at apartments to rent, is whether an in-unit laundry is included. When you do not offer this feature, you run the risk of losing potential renters, as many people want the flexibility to be able to wash a load of clothes, but not have to take time out of their busy schedules to sit in a shared laundry room while waiting on their clothes. Adding a LG washer and dryer to your units allows you to provide this added service. There are a variety of different models available to deal with space limitations and venting. For example, a stackable unit places the dryer on top of the washer and can easily fit into a utility closet. Ventless dryer options are available on certain models, so the only connections required are the hot and cold water lines and a drain line.

Next to location, in-unit laundry is the most demanded feature in apartments today. Ask any leasing agent how many prospects hang up when told they would have to use shared laundry facilities. In today’s soft market every lost prospect equals lost money. Apartments with in-unit laundry command higher rents ($40-$100+) with lower turnover than comparable apartments with shared laundry. In-unit laundry also increases rent roles, attracts a better clientele and significantly increases your properties capitalization rate.

No Vent

This means no ductwork, no fire rated vent chase, no finish work inside the apartment, no new holes in the building envelope, no make up air requirements, no fans, and greatly simplified design and construction.

Lower Water Discharge Rate

Our machines have a water discharge rate that is less than a dishwasher and can easily be connected to existing plumbing lines without creating plumbing problems. Conventional top-load washers dump over 13 gallons of water at a 16 gallon per minute discharge rate. Our high efficiency front-loaders discharge 5 gallons of water at a 6 gallon per minute rate.

Compact Size

Space is money in multi-family housing. All of our machines are UL approved for under the counter installation. This means a kitchen or bathroom installation is very feasible. They all fit inside 24” closets and can easily be raised on platforms while still providing the laundry capacity to keep your residents happy.

Low Maintenance and Operating Costs

According to the multi-family laundry association’s study (see above), residents will tend to wash more loads with in-unit equipment. However, front-loading washers that use less than half the water of conventional washers, while maintaining capacity. Consequently your water bills will stay the same or even decrease while your rent rises dramatically. These washers also use a fraction of the soap, so there is less impact on older plumbing.
