Options for a New Compact Washer and Dryer for Your Home

There are several options from which to choose any time you are looking for a new compact washer and dryer for your home. You might select front-loading appliances that can be placed either side-by-side, or stacked to save additional room. However, you need to make sure you have the following connections available:

  • 220V dryer outlet that is either a 3-prong or 4-prong plug, depending on the age of the home
  • 110V 3-prong outlet for the washer’s power cord
  • Hot and cold water line connections
  • Access to a waste water discharge drain

If you are lacking any of the above connections in your home, or are renting and not able to have them added, you do have another option in a compact washer and dryer. LG makes a combination appliance which combines both washing and drying functions into a single machine. The connection requirements are the same as the separate compact laundry pairs, but do not need a 220V dryer outlet. Additionally, you have a second option for setting up and connecting your LG washer dryer combo where you can convert it into a portable machine.

How to Make a Combo Washer Dryer Portable

All that is required to make your combo model portable is a wheel kit and kitchen sink conversion kit. Once these are attached to your compact washer dryer, it can easily be rolled across the floor and connected right to the kitchen faucet. To do a load of laundry, you simply plug the machine into an available 3-prong 110V household outlet, connect the single piece hose system to your faucet, turn on the water, load your clothes, select the washing and drying cycles, add detergent, fabric softener and/or bleach, and press start. When the load is finished, you shut off the water, unplug it from the wall, and roll it out of the way until the next time you need to do another load of laundry.
